Stacy Brardo

“Treat people the way you want to be treated while making

them look awesome!”

At a young age Blowdry Specialist Stacy Brardo loved watching her mom get dressed up, doing her hair and makeup. This (and slew of bad haircuts as a teen!) is what truly inspired Stacy to pursue a career as a hair stylist. “No one should ever have to have a bad hair experience!”  Stacy studied cosmetology at Aveda Institute in NYC and picked up  tricks of the trade at Salon AKS. Some career highlights include assisting during New York Fashion Weeks and on television segments for NBC Live and The Today Show.

Her love of fashion and strong sense of style come to life in her work with hair. She can take you from edgy to classical and everything in between; finding the best look for your event or lifestyle.

Brardo finds pride in being a good listener. Her personal and professional belief is to “Treat people the way you want to be treated while making them look awesome!” Stacy is always ahead of trends and is ready to bring you there too. You should probably get her on speed dial!

Anya Nadezhdina

“When your confident….. you can experiment and be brave with ideas about hair”.

It took Anya two years to develop her dream, come to the US and see it unfold. Her dream was to come to New York to do hair. Always experimenting with her own mane and her friend’s hairstyles, Anya developed a strong love for the art of hair.

She started her journey at the Carsten Institute of Beauty; AKS was her first interview! They recognized her passion and the rest is history.

Working closely with the AKS team, Anya has built upon her repertoire of skills and developed her own signature style. Her inspiration derives from the ways people do hair in different cultures and counties. She combines the best elements and invents new styles and updos!

Anya specializes in wigs.  She wears them herself and so knows firsthand the needs of her wig clientele. She gets that there are various reasons wigs are worn and thereby customizes each accordingly.  Go to the Salon AKS services page for more information on wigs.

I saw this haircut ____…… how do I ask for it?

First, is the haircut your requesting right for you? Does the person in the photo have similar face shape and hair texture as you? Find a celebrity whose style you like that has similar face shape to yours and emulate their look.

The process to achieving a great hairstyle starts with a properly proportioned haircut. In order for hair strands to fall into place perfectly, they must be cut perfectly. Hair should be cut according to the way it grows, that way strands can interlock with each other and allow for a graceful growing out of the cut.  This cutting method also allows for ease of style. If hair is cut the way it grows, it does not HAVE to be blow-dried to look good.  Next, hair must be cut in a proportion most flattering to your face shape. You want angles and layers that highlight your best features and diminish your least favorite.

I am afraid of getting my haircut! Have any advice on how I can get over this fear?!

Try getting your hair cut in extremely small increments (1/8 inch) every two weeks. In this way, you will develop a comfort level with the process and build trust with your stylist. Once you conquer your fear, it is important that you have a thorough consultation with your stylist so you know the exact haircut you will receive.

my hair is dry and damaged. I want to cut it short but don’t know if it would look good on me….

Shorter hair does not have to be unflattering. It sounds like your hair could really use the recharging a shorter haircut would deliver. Be sure to cut your length in a flattering proportion to your neck and torso so your face does not look fuller. Properly proportioned angles and layers will create angles in your face, defining your features. Good layers will also enable you to embrace your natural texture and keep you from damaging your hair by over styling it. Talk to your stylist about the best look for you!

I’m in serious need of a new hairstyle! I dread going to the salon because they always manage to butcher my hair or I can never seem to get a cut that is flattering. I want a style that is fun, sexy, and age appropriate. I wear glasses so I want a style that can work with them.
