Born and raised in Hawaii, the dance of Hula is large part of Alana Marie P. Gouveia’s life story. Chosen at a young age to represent her indigenous culture, Marie grew up frequently traveling to Japan and California for performances. She competed amongst world renowned dancers all along the coast of Hawaii. The exposure she experienced at a young age to a wide range of fashion and culture inspired Marie to want to create. Her signature is working on hair with a touch of Aloha. She is skilled at creating flower adornments, weaving and creating flower arrangements for hair. She had plenty of practice from her performances!
When the opportunity came up to work in NYC, Marie knew it was time to grow. She wanted to capitalize on being within reach of all NYC had to offer.
Today, Marie continues to be inspired by Japanese culture and the fast paced energy of NYC. She loves the little things; the details that comprise fashion. Her work is intricate with precision and speed. She has enormous patience and grace when working with her hands.
She is constantly honing her skills and builds upon them with a love and passion for creating beauty.
