Sam believes that "choosing the right hair color or tone of highlight, combined with the perfect balance of light and dark is pivotal to brightening our eyes and giving our skin that radiant glow."

In 1994, a scholarship to the Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art brought Sam to NYC, where she earned her Bachelors in Fine Arts degree.  Upon graduating, she had a mission to make the world around her a more beautiful and interesting place.  So why not include people, too? Thus, Sam entered the beauty industry where she worked with the acclaimed John Barrett Salon for Bergdorf Goodman. Here, she did everything from haircuts and updo's to doing runway shows and editorial shoots. But, hair color proved to be Sam's true passion. She took to it naturally, applying a lifetime of Painting and Color Theory classes to the art and science of hair color. At Salon AKS, Sam can finally hang her hat and continue on with her mission, creating hair color that will "accentuate what is naturally beautiful in each of us, allowing us to look our absolute, most effortless best."
